We took the Traditional Burial Package with a casket upgrade. We initially chose Myrtle Beach Funeral Home because we wanted a funeral home near the Ocean Woods Cemetery, where our loved one would be buried, because we would have the service at the funeral home. Our only concern was that the funeral home had lower prices than others in the area, and we were thus a little concerned about the quality. Quality is not so relevant to many service aspects (they either retrieve the loved one from the hospital or they don't; they either take the flowers to the cemetery or they don't). We were concerned with such things as cosmetics (how presentable would our loved one appear in an open casket to his 9-year-old daughter?) and whether the funeral service would be set up, directed and assisted in a dignified way (privacy, atmosphere, music, arrangement of flowers, pallbearer organization, etc). The funeral home's transparency and our interaction with them from Germany before flying to S.C. convinced us that we could trust them. After arriving we learned that Jim Bowdre is not only a conscientious and talented professional -- he is also simply a great person. In the same way that many companies, departments or teams tend to reflect the personality and values of its leader, so does the personnel at the funeral home. We were very impressed with all 3 other employees we interacted with. After being stuck at the Atlanta airport due to ice, having to postpone the funeral and then having to quickly make many of the arrangements after finally arriving, Jim and his team were all very helpful in assisting us with organization and in making our terribly sad occasion one that was also positive and memorable. Thanks so much Jim and team! --David and Eva Roe
