I've been with Dr. Tanya since 2014 and wish I had met her sooner. I was diagnosed with scoliosis back in 2001 and tried many braces and saw many orthopedists. Finally my senior year of high school I opted for the surgery (which went smoothly) including 5 screws in the middle of my spine and rib graft for more bone. I felt taller and my spine was 98% straight. And of course I had a story to tell not knowing it would change fifteen years later.
I went to Dr T after a roommate of mine recommended her. I thought to see a chiropractor on the regular would be a wise idea. So I had a free consultation scheduled and walked into an office that was unlike anything I had seen before. The colors were comforting, the energy was positive and friendly, everything was open and shared. I was used to closed boxes for offices and busy aloof secretaries and smooth jazz playing on the lowest volume possible while all patients whisper and maybe read a magazine. That was not the scene at In8love! So of course the energy attracted me to this practice. Then, I was greeted by the staff and immediately in conversations and laughter. Finally Dr T approached me and we went into a private room for an X-ray and then sat down and she asked me questions about my life pretty much. She asked me things about parents, childhood, events in my upbringing, school, passions, jobs, exercise, diet, how my body feels from my head to my toes. I was in tears by the end of the session which had me in shock. It was most definitely an awakening; to express how my body and mind and lifestyle affect me and for somebody to care enough to listen and ask me more was beyond me. We had a payment plan set up that was fair for me and began a care plan which included appointments in the office three times a week and exercises to take home with me along with a new approach to diet and lifestyle. My new commitment to myself included regular adjustments, 20 minutes on my traction pillow twice a day, probiotics, and a foam roller. All these commitments are still a part of my daily routine three years later. Sinus infections weren't as prominent and I just felt better and enjoyed sharing my success with others and have referred a few patients her way.
As of a few months ago we found another curve in my spine right below my already operated spine and now Dr. T is trying to push the curve out by me using a ScoliRoll which is similar to the traction pillow. Hoping for an adjusted and healthy spine even with the rod in my back Dr T gives me hope that we can try to prevent the curve. I hope by sharing this story with you that you can and do have options. Before a permanent surgery check into all possibilities, they are there. Dr T has been an amazing spirit and guide in my life and I wish I had found her before my surgery to trust in the power of chiropractic, because it works!
