Lots of things to say here and my perspective is from a coach staying in the barracks. The fields are groomed well, there are still lips between infield and out field and there is some strange leveling around first base and second causing slides to come up short at second. There will be rain so be prepared for rain delayed games. It was great to play teams from all over. Liked the park and liked the concept As a parent, I felt we could have got more info (altho maybe it was given to the coach and not passed on, idk). Things like games could start earlier than posted, barrack check in/out rules, closing ceremony details. I also hoped more info would be available on the app. Kids had a great time and we enjoyed the games. Loved having a reason to go to Cooperstown too.
The food they serve to the players, coaches, and umpires is less than good. Same menu everyday for lunch. The fields were mostly dusty, and with the wind, that wasn't ideal. Things have change a lot since the founder passed...not for the better.
I was a player here at age 12. I was a umpire here at age 32. I loved every moment of both trips. God bless y'all, baseball and area 51!
An unbelievable chance for your 12 year old baseball player to create memories for a lifetime. The park is amazing and the tournament is well organized. A truly unforgettable experience. one tough part is the initial drop off. We sat in probably an hour and a half of traffic. Not much you can do. It's such a small town. One other note, my son said the food they serve the players and coaches is pretty bad. Make sure you give your players and coaches good, protein rich snacks to keep in the barracks with them.
